Individualized attention emphasizes 'learning to learn'

Classroom over-crowding. Discipline problems. Language barriers. Peer pressure. Varying levels of student comprehension. All of these conditions can affect the speed at which course work is taught and, in the end, impact how much and how well students learn in the traditional classroom setting.

To overcome these and other obstacles, parents and students are turning to private tutors.

Individualized instruction - whether it's full-time, a few hours daily or several hours on a weekly or monthly basis - is becoming increasingly popular among people of all ages. Joanne Weiner, director of the West Palm Beach-based Private Tutoring Services, explains why private tutoring has become an important ingredient in today's educational processes.
